  {Panther Professions}

Hello Everyone,

The former Tech Prep committee, now called Partnership for College and Career Success (PCCS) will be providing a series of guest speakers that will be presenting information during activity period each month.  The plan is that each month, there will be at least two guest speakers that will explain their profession, the education needed for the profession, and the job climate. If a student is interested in attending the presentation, they will go to the presentation in place of an activity that day.  The only difference is that they will need to sign up prior to the day of the presentation in the counseling office.  More specifics about the presenters will be given over the announcements at school. The list of these presentations can be found by clicking on the "Career Clusters" link on the left.

Each student at WCHS is required to take the Orientation to Technology class (OTT).  Career awareness and planning is one component to the class. The Career Cruising program is used in this career unit to assess the student’s current and future interest and therefore guide them to a fulfilling career.  The student’s results from the Career Cruising program will be used to insure that students interested in a particular career are given an opportunity to listen to the guest speaker in their area of interest.  Students are encouraged to go to the Career Cruising website and update their interests during all four years at WCHS.  A letter will be sent out reminding the student’s of their career cruising password, so that they may update their file.

The Committee would greatly appreciate your help in encouraging students of WCHS to take advantage of these presentations.  We feel that we have some interesting guests coming to visit WCHS. If you are interested in attending the presentations, please sign up!!

You may contact Mrs. Carol Wilson with any questions, and we look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

The Panther Professions Committee
