We are pleased to announce that the following students have earned national recognition in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2017: Allie Salrin and Aleece Thomas. These students have been identified by panels of creative professionals as the most talented young artists and writers in the nation and received Gold Keys for their ceramic work. This year, more than 330,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Less than 1% were recognized at the national level. These students have been invited to attend a ceremony at the world-famous Carnegie Hall on Thursday, June 8th. Their artwork will be shipped to New York and put on display at The Sheila C. Johnson Design Center @ Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institutes' Pratt Manhattan Gallery. The exhibition is open to the public from June 2 -12. Please click on the attachments to view the art work.
If you were unable to attend the Meet the Candidates event on March 9, please take some time to view the video. Each candidate spoke about why they would like to serve as a board member and some of their views about guiding the district into the future. At the end, there was a robust Q&A session.
Voting is April 4, so this is a great opportunity to become familiar with the nine candidates.
